BANDALOOP creates in a wide variety of contexts. Our site-reactive vertical performances, ranging from duets to a dozen dancers, are presented in theaters and museums, on skyscrapers, bridges, billboards and UNESCO Heritage sites, in atriums and convention halls, in nature on cliffs, and on screen in films and video content.

We partner with performing arts organizations, corporations, government agencies, brands, tastemakers, community leaders and culture keepers to present one-of-a-kind performances. Our artistic, rigging and safety teams also consult on projects ranging from music videos to Broadway productions.

Celebrating city architecture delivers BANDALOOP dance to the urban public, making possible the previously unimagined. Through grand openings, building launches and city-wide arts festivals, vertical dance brings the community together in one-of-a-kind, location-aware experience.

NATURE

From the high granite walls of Yosemite to the rural landscapes of Tianmen Mountain in China to the Indian Himalaya and the Italian Dolomites, BANDALOOP has drawn upon its mountaineering roots to span the world’s iconic mountain settings and continue to explore rock formations that call dance to height.

LOOM

LOOM is a trilogy of large-scale, outdoor public vertical dance pieces directed by BANDALOOP Artistic Director Melecio Estrella that deepens and challenges our perspective on the art and industry of textiles. Bringing together a collective of performing artists, climate scientists, regenerative textile artists, a visual technologist and creative riggers, the evening length piece turns a building’s façade into a giant loom where stories and dances interlace. The result of this multi-layered collaboration is spoken word, vertical dance, fabric manipulation, film segments, and original music. As vertical dance is a form that relies on state-of-the-science woven nylon climbing ropes, LOOM locates BANDALOOP’s core technical framework in a textile lineage.
